5 Social Media Content Ideas To Market Your Beauty Business

When you have a beauty business, it’s imperative that you bring in new business into your salon or spa. One way to do this is to have your social media on point with updated and engaging content. With more than 72% of the public using social media, it’s a great addition to your digital marketing strategy to connect with customers and build awareness about your brand. There are numerous types of content that you can create, from images to carousel posts, and even Reels or TikToks. However, they’ll probably fall into five categories: Teaching, Funny and Entertaining, Engaging, Portfolio, Before and Afters, and a Day in the Life.

Teaching

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” Benjamin Franklin

I’m sure you get a lot of questions from your clients that may be similar. Whether it’s “how do I recreate this look at home” or “what should I do to make my nails last longer?.” If that sounds like your customers, then you have a great start for content you can create! You can take the questions you often hear and make a video that teaches your followers the best way to approach the situation. Another option is to show how your business performs specific or new services. For example, when taking a look at Reel you can see the Esthetician demonstrate one of their top services, and teach the viewers what the service is and who it would be great for.

This is another great example of teaching content as you can see the massage therapist showcasing their skillset, while also teaching the viewers proper stretches and technique:

Funny & Entertaining

When it comes to stopping someone in their tracks with some amazing content, posts that are funny and entertaining come in first place. In fact, 49% of consumers found that funny content was more interesting and memorable. To make content that’s memorable and has viewers laughing, you need to show off your goofy side or participate in popular Instagram Reels or Tik Toks trends. For example, this is a trendy reel that I helped my client create. We took the entertaining audio and made the caption specific to their office. It’s still one of their most engaged Reel to this day!

Engaging

I like to categorize engaging content as images or videos that ask questions or encourage followers to comment and share. A great example of this is a poll, or “would you rather” type of posts that encourage a healthy/fun debate. These can be posted on your Instagram or Facebook stories, or you could make a video asking your followers to choose between two or three options

Display Your Portfolio

It’s okay to brag about yourself! Especially when you’re in the business of making people look good. Having content on your Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok of your work is ideal for showing potential clients what they can get if they work with you. This could simply be an image or a carousel post. But my favorite content these days are Reels or TikToks created with trending audios to display your portfolio, like this example:

Before and After Results

The Before and After posts are a different type of portfolio content. Instead of just showing the finished product, you give your followers a glimpse of the starting point. Just like the portfolio content, this could be an image, a carousel post, or a reel:

A Day in the Life

36% of consumers agree that Relatable content is the second most memorable content when compared to funny content. So when you’re thinking about creating and gathering content, also consider going behind the scenes of your work, Even take it a step further and showcase your team or any volunteer work. Think personable and relatable! One thing I like to do, especially with my clients who have a team, is to get content showing interactions, behind-the-scenes teamwork, laughter, and smiles. It truly shows the relatable side of the company, and not just the business and services.
